Over the past few months, the team at Blakeney Point have been working extremely hard during lockdown for both their clients and candidates. We were able to sit down with one of our newest recruits, Betsy Moore, to discuss her role and what drove her to her career at Blakeney Point.
Betsy, began her recruitment career in her local town of Grimsby, focussing on temporary employment. When asked. ‘Why Food & Drink?’ her answer came quickly. ‘Food and Drink is such a relatable sector and I learn more about it each day. Working with different companies and helping them with understanding their vision is exciting!’
Since starting back in March, Betsy has had the opportunity to assist with other consultants, as well as have her own pool of candidates. ‘Every candidate phone call brings with it its own set of learnings and takeaways. I feel like I’m growing every time I finish a meeting.’
It became apparent quite quickly that Betsy truly enjoys what she does and admires her colleagues as well. ‘I look at how the team cares about each candidate and works with them one-on-one to find the best fit for them. With clients, you can see how much we care about what the client wants.’
When asked if there is anything Betsy is looking forward to, she was very interested in getting the opportunity to work in the Drinks sector later on in the year. ‘During COVID, it was very much all hands on deck for our existing clients and candidates, but as time starts to free up, I am looking forward to focussing more of my time on Drinks!
Leading by example, taking great care for the process and truly listening to everyone involved have differentiated Betsy’s experience with Blakeney. ‘Although I haven’t been in recruitment for long, I can see myself here for a long time. Before this, I was trained in dance and musical theatre and had a career on cruise ships. Coming from such a customer-facing role has helped me progress in my job as a consultant here.’
